Timely Delivery

Our new dining room chairs finally arrived this morning (they were on backorder for over two months). I'm so excited - the linen is very soft and I love the old look of the reclaimed wood chair frames. I really like them. Only.....

....I can't decide where to place them in my oh-so-pretty dining room!

This state of house disarray was more fun in the beginning than it is now, I admit. Oh and don't worry, I did order four chairs. The fourth is in the office for now.

I'll never take eating family dinners at a table for granted again. :)

The chairs are lovely. How do you teach the girls to keep them that way? :)

I wondered that, too. Maybe girls are just more careful than boys? Those would not last long in my house, sadly. :(

Kristen, your new chairs are beautiful! Are they sprayed with mega-scotch guard?? Hopefully soon your home will be back in lovely order. :)

Marla, I'll let you know (LOL)!

Seriously though, we're pretty relaxed around here. I don't get distraught by stains or wear-and-tear. Things are meant to be used. That said, I figure after a few years I can just slip them or reupholster if they're really bad. No big deal. I've always thought that when it comes to furniture purchase, nicer pieces will look nice even when they've got that "well-worn" look, because they have beauty structurally; whereas if you buy something cheaply made it will look that way whether brand new or worn.

Does that make sense?

Yes it does. Good quality furniture ages well for the most part. I agree that it would be an easy fix to either re-upolster them in time or even make a slip cover.
Imagine all the fun you could have with different slipcovers for different seasons.
They are a beautiful addition to your home. Enjoy them!
