My mom's here. She's knitting up a storm.
Every time she comes down for a visit now I want to knit something new. Last time it was
this scarf. This time we found
this pattern, the Kelmscott sweater. So dreamy. But why do I always try the difficult ones first? Why do I pick impractical items to work on? Why can't I just be normal, and pick a simple project?
I'm crazy, that's why. And I'm a little bit down (long story), and when I'm down, working with my hands is therapeutic. So is having my mom here.
Need to go get some yarn today. Just the thought makes me happy.

Kristen, that sweater would be so beautiful on you! And I think knitting is very therapeutic. I often wonder how much better I would have handled postpartum depression if I had been knitting consistently (make that constantly) then. Here's hoping I can test that theory someday. Go forth and knit friend!
Said a little prayer for you, and am also coveting the cardigan!
Hugs for you, Kristen, and to answer your question of why the gorgeous sweater...cause it looks just like you! :)
Beautiful sweater. Makes me wish I could knit. But I tried learning and almost drove my neighbor (who was trying her best to teach me) insane. Good luck with it.
I, too, always eye projects that are perhaps a bit too complicated for my skills. But diving in is always my solution too!
Gorgeous sweater! I am sorry you are feeling down-moms are definitely good for that! I am looking forward to seeing the final product! I wish I had some creative skill! :)
Kristen,
The sweater is just lovely and i can't wait to see a picture of you in it. Keeping busy during those times of feeling low is tremendously therapeutic. I quilt or cross-stitch. It also keeps my hands out of the popcorn bowl.
I wish you joy and sunshine as you browse the aisles of yarn.
Happy Knitting!
what a beautiful sweater! i'm sure you can do it. jumping in head first is the best way, imo.
knitting is very good therapy. cheap, too. relatively speaking.
Kristen, knitting is so calming for me! You should join Ravelry. There is nothing wrong with choosing a complicated project. The most fun projects are the complex ones. I stay up way too late most nights knitting. It's a way to unwind after long busy days!
Lovely sweater. Truly set apart from the old sweaters my grandmother used to try to knit for us. :) Kudos to you for your ambition and interest--having your mom there for advice and support will make for an easier go of things. I hope it makes for some peaceful time for prayer and reflection to bring your heart joy.
I'll say a little prayer for you too.
Knitting is my sanity on a daily basis!!! It will be a fun challenge, can't wait to see it :)))
Kristen, What a gorgeous sweater! I'm convinced you can pull off anything you put your hand to. You are so multi-talented! I hope your knitting therapy works. Prayers.
Kristen,
What a beautiful sweater! Learning to knit is one of my resolutions, and you've re-inspired me! :)
Saying a prayer that things will be looking up for you....
Kristen, the sweater is gorgeous. I know why you would want to do it. Prayers for you tonight that tomorrow brings sunshine to your soul.
I'm crazy right along with you. ;)
Prayers for you.
Because that sweater is gorgeous! And, so you.
Praying for you!
What a beautifully detailed choice. So happy to see you are creating a garment for yourself! You'll be cheered as you create, and then cheered as you wear it. Your taste is exquisite, as usual. Thank you for sharing!
Saying a prayer for you today...
Gorgeous, gorgeous sweater. I can't even IMAGINE being able to knit that! I hope the therapy helps :)
