So I chose to work on the beds during the weekend. I found some materials at the fabric store and took pictures, hoping you will help me make a decision. Do you like any of the fabrics? None of them? Is there one you think you would like in a different color, on a larger/smaller scale, or only with white wood? Is there one fabric that makes you cringe?
They are in no particular order, though the last (floral fabric) happens to be my least favorite. I look forward to your comments.
**Don't forget to stop over at Cheryl's for the Loveliness of Baking Fair. Her beautiful work on this carnival is sure to make you hhh-uuu-nn-gg-rrr-yyy, but it will just as certainly make your Easter feasting all the more glorious!**

The Pink Plaid or the small green check I think is the nicest balance to your fabrics adn teh overall look. Really it's all very nice, what a great job you are doing and especially if you sewed them all yourself. Lovely! What lucky girls! coffeemom
I love the last three. Will you come do my house? :-D
And, where did you get those gorgeous, floral alphabet pictures?
I am partial to the pink plaid.
And I take back what I said about needing to paint the headboards; that cherry wood is gorgeous and complements the rest of the room perfectly.
I would use six and seven...the small green floral and the larger vibrant pink floral...I would make pink piping to go around the green floral headboard - then make them each a pink floral pillow with the green floral ruffle or piping. The green floral is real subtle and the pink floral is a large flowered contrast. Have fun! You make it hard to decide cause they're all pretty! :)
I like the soft green floral the best.
I like the pink plaid or the bold pink floral - but I'm a sucker for bold pink florals...
I'm with Karen....will you come to my house, too????
Actually, the last floral one is my favorite, but I like all of them, actually. My second favorite is the next to last floral
I like either of the small green prints or the last large floral. But I would vote for keeping the wood dark unless you are going to paint the walls. White furniture against white walls looks too plain to me. One of my girls has tangerine orange and watermelon pink walls, the other girls room has two shades of pink, so I like a lot of color in the house!
My vote's for #6. And I think the headboard looks great. #7 would be my 2nd choice.
I like the green fern pattern the best. The soft pink plaid would be my second choice...or perhaps a pink gingham. Also, I think the unpainted wood looks great in the room!
I love 1, 5, 6 and 7. Great choices, and I do love how the cherry wood looks too!
Actually, I changed my mind. I think any of them would look good. I think the fabric with pink in it would especially look nice with the darker wood. I would just make sure that the fabric also goes well with the pictures that will be next to it. Be sure to show us what you end up doing!
Now, take this with a grain of salt, because I'm coming from a house of boys, lol ... but I like the green fern print the best, and the pink plaid next best. Really, they are all lovely and whatever you choose will be gorgeous! Have fun, Kristen!
I love the colors you have in this room! I would vote for 1, 5, or 7.
Thank you so much, everyone, for taking the time to help me narrow these down. Your input is very much appreciated!
Coffeemom, I wish I sewed these myself, but no. Cheryl M. could though, and what a beautiful job she would do!
Karen, the wall letters are from Eeboo. (I love their products!) You can find them on Amazon, at your local toy shop or on eeboo.com.
Leeann, your home sounds like a lot of fun!
I will be sure to update the blog with any progress on the beds (on weekends). If I get stuck on a decision I'll be sure to ask you, my interior designers!
Blessings on your week ahead. Now, back to Lent.
I kind of like the pink plaid too, but they are all pretty. And oh my, do I LOVE your alphabet prints in the back. Gorgeous room!
I have both boys and girls and there is something about that fern print that keeps pulling me back to it. I also agree that the wood is beautiful so keep it! And I LOVE those letters!
Kristen,
I'm coming in kind of late, but I also like the fern green print as first choice, pink plaid, second. And I am SO glad you did NOT paint that beautiful dark wood! I love seeing the possibilities of combining dark wood and white furniture, since I love antique dark woods, and even though I have white cut-out coverlets on my girls' beds, I am always afraid of making their room too grown-up or dreary...
I would use number six !
Kristen,
I like number one the best! Have fun!
The second to the last picture (the floral) if you are staying with the cherry. It funks it up a bit to make it more suitable for a girl's room. If you paint the wood white and ONLY if you paint it white, you are allowed to use a larger scale gingham. The latter is what you will be more pleased with in the long-run.
Don't you love how dogmatic this is getting? We must be Catholics or something.
Okay, late to the party, but I have a comment! I love the dark wood. My choices would be the green fern or darker small green plaid or pink plaid.
And the Eboo I just discovered with Hardware Store Cards at Tuesday Morning a few weeks ago for my son. They are gorgeous!
I like #3, #6, and the last one. I think the headboard needs some GREEN. It would add that punch of color to the room. Otherwise, your left with the colors you already have.
