This morning at the playground, Gianna meets a new friend:

Gianna: Hi. My name is Gianna. What's your name?
Sad-looking girl, shyly: Nicole.
Gianna, emphatically: That's a BEAUTIFUL name!
Girl smiles and holds out her hand and the two run hand-in-hand together toward the swings.

Have I ever mentioned that I just LOVE motherhood?!

Do you have any suggestions/tips for me about how to raise a daughter? I'm going to have one in about 6 weeks!

Thank you, Cheryl. You are always so kind.

Beth, I know (from your blog) about your baby girl, and am so excited for you.

I am no expert at mothering girls, as I still feel like a new mother myself. But I can lend two bits of advice which help me in my daily life: Seek Our Lady's intercession as often as possible, and try your best to be the woman you want your daughter to become. And forgive yourself when you fail!

I don't know which made me sigh more: this beautiful story or that fact that you were at a PLAYGROUND! Enjoy that beautiful California sun for us and know that you are truly blessed in that little girl of yours.

In BOTH of your little girls, actually.

Oh, beautiful of your daughter to extend herself in friendship.

No doubt, she's learned from you!

Hope Gianna and Nicole have many more lovely playdates!

Thank you for the great advice! I am going to keep a rosary by her rocking chair in her room, and say a decade as part of our bedtime routine. Now the other part is harder - I have a long way to go!!

It does have its perks, doesn't it?
